Activities and
Special Events. Temple Menorah provides a large number of activities and
social events for all ages. Examples are special dinners (especially our popular
potluck dinners before Family Services and our pancake breakfasts), dances,
concerts, auctions and sales, holiday celebrations, and cultural events. Temple
Menorah is also a participant in the Parliament of the World Religions, which
sponsors such events as visits to members’ religious services, food-tasting
festivals, pathways to peace festivals, etc.
In Our Building.
The highlight of the Temple Menorah building is our beautiful Menorah
sanctuary,
which is graced with a magnificent, inspiring stained glass Menorah window that
brings a sense of strength, vibrancy, and contemplation to our worship services.
During daylight hours, the stained glass reflects on the stone wall behind the bima to gorgeous effect. This is well appreciated by those who visit the Temple
for Saturday morning Bar or Bat Mitzvahs, or for daytime High Holiday services.
The sanctuary is named after founding Rabbi Joseph Strauss, who now serves as
the Temple’s Rabbi Emeritus.
Other points of attraction are:
· Rose Chizewer Library, which also serves as a chapel and contains hundreds of volumes on almost any conceivable Jewish topic.
· Members Lounge, with comfortable sofas and a big-screen TV. This room is also used for Shabbat services when the group is small and intimacy is desirable, and for the Youth Group.
· Social Hall, with seating of up to 250 people, which is available to members for parties and special events.
